My name is Susan and I specialize in executive-level consulting for not-for-profit administrators and boards of directors.
Yes, this actually means that I think governance models, job descriptions, performance expectations and bylaws are exciting – exciting because I know that these fundamentals contain a bit of magic for not-for-profit organizations and their invaluable missions.
My services grew out of a career in the not-for-profit world. More specifically, they grew out of two parallel experiences: 1) serving as the executive director of an organization (Hospice of the Red River Valley) and reporting to a board of directors while, 2) simultaneously serving on the board of another organization (The Humane Society of Fargo Moorhead) and holding the president’s office for three years. These opposing perspectives opened my eyes to the alchemy of quality governance, well-defined executive functions and great missions. Helping organizations with this discovery is deeply rewarding – and fun!
Throughout my career, I have been motivated by service and partnership with others. My leadership and creativity are at their best in collaboration with others. Simply put, my heart is in this work.
My family, my dog, my cooking and my love of lake living are topics for another day.
